Shapeshifter

Shapeshifter is a term that refers to the altered state of consciousness or dream state in which an individual can become another animal. Shapeshifter also refers to the sophisticated economy of line found in cave art in which, for example, the curve that defines the haunch of an animal can also describe the horn of another, often different in scale and proportion. In my own work it applies to the multiple readings possible in the non-representational art of collage. In this sense, I find my way of working related to a tradition that goes back thousands of years. Read more...
