MOJAVE: watercolor and acrylic on handmade
Sekishu paper mounted onto paper-covered wooden panels 55" x 112"
This is an instance where the process for one idea begets
another. The original Desert, Prairie and Ocean paintings
were destroyed in order to make the limited edition book, Western
Trilogy. The paintings were torn into 900
watercolors- each small watercolor was touched individually -to accompany
my text.
However, the repetitive patterns intrigued me. There was
a freshness to the brushwork and a vibrancy in the large
paintings so I continued to make mural sized variations on the original
Desert, Prairie, Ocean paintings.
All aremounted on paper-covered wood panels.
The Mojave mural is in the permanent collection of the
United States Embassy Chancery in Moscow.
