First Moon Passage

The First Moon Passage series, is a meditation on the passage of light into darkness or darkness into light. Going into and coming out of darkness and light establish very different mood states.

We see the moon via reflected light from the sun mainly when the sun is 'down', invisible. Darkness allowing light.
A failed painting provided the raw material for this series. I cut it into twelve pieces and used one piece of painted canvas in each of the First Moon Passage collages.

Each are made on rag paper with charcoal, ochre pigment, metallic acrylic paint, and some incorporate fragments of canvas tarp and monotype.
